Help Keep The Book Going!

If you’re not familiar with me and my book, read this.

Things are getting to a point in sales that I need to consider what kind of future the book has. I AM finishing the first storyarc which runs through issue #7 and the trade that will collect it all. Beyond that? No idea.

If you’re enjoying the book, PLEASE order a second copy and give it to a friend. PRE-ORDER it, or stores won’t bother increasing their orders. I’ve been hearing a LOT of stories of people unable to get a copy because their store only gets 2 copies and they both sell. Issue #5 is JAN140622. Issue #6 is FEB140643.

If you enjoy the book and want it to keep going, I NEED your help.

Help Me Get To Amazing Arizona!

I’m trying to raise funds to get to Amazing Arizona next month, and I could use your help! Travelling While Disabled is more expensive than it is for most people, so I’m offering a special from now through January: buy ANYTHING from my store and get a unique print I’ll ONLY make available at Amazing Arizona and through this sale. Regardless of whether or not I get enough cash to go, you get the print with your order. What’s the print? A comic-size print of the cover of issue #3, out in January, drawn by me and colored by my wife, Sylv. Prints will be signed by both of us!

Signed and Sketched #1s , a Few Kickstarters left, and Commissions!

First of all, I’m offering signed AND sketched copies of issue #1 from Image/Top Cow for $20 INCLUDING shipping and handling to anywhere in the US and Canada. Each book is sketched on the back, in the sketch-card box printed on every copy. Zoey is usually the default character, but I take requests! You can buy one now by clicking the Buy Now button at the top left of the Home page.

Second, I have about 20 Kickstarter books left (the rest are going to backers as I can afford to ship them!) that I’m ONLY selling signed AND sketched for $50 + S/H. These are the LAST that I will ever sell, so if you want one, now’s your chance. Otherwise you can try eBay, where I’ve seen them going as high as $75. Email me at xlarimex(at) to order.

Lastly, I’m taking commissions for art in two ways. If I draw a digital sketch and print and sign it, which is easiest for me and results in better quality, I’ll do a grayscale pinup of your choice at 8″ x 10″ for $100. After it’s printed, I DELETE the file, so it IS basically an original.

If I draw on paper in pencil and pen, which takes a LOT longer and is actually of lower quality due to the limitations of drawing hunched over with very little reach, it’s $250. I know some of you insist on original art, and that’s fine, but it costs more because it’s more difficult. Either way, email me to ask about openings.

I’ll post as things sell out or my commission queue fills up.

Issue #1 Sells Out!

A VOICE IN THE DARK #1 has completely sold out at the distributor level, but may still be available in comic stores, and is currently available digitally on the Image Comics website ( and the official Image Comics iOS app, as well as on Comixology on the web (, iOS, and Android. Image Comics is pleased to announce that this first issue will be going back to print to meet customer demand. The second printing of A VOICE IN THE DARK #1 (Diamond Code OCT138157) will release on 12/18. A VOICE IN THE DARK #2 releases 12/18 and is available for pre-order with Diamond Code OCT130632.

Yay! Thank you all for making this such a success!

SDCC Announcements

SDCC went very well!

The Top Cow panel on Saturday morning was great. I was expecting to be towards the end of the panel, after they covered all the big properties like Witchblade, Cyber Force, Aphrodite IX, and Think Tank, but was really pretty surprised and quite humbled to find out they had me go third.

I’m truly honored that Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins are so behind the project and excited for it. I was just hoping to get a shot at putting a book out, so when Marc told me how happy HE was to be working with me, I about fell over. An Image founder, excited to work with *me*? Crazy!

The book was announced as an ongoing – not a mini, or a test run, or a pilot, but an actual ongoing, monthly series, the only other Minotaur ongoing besides Think Tank. That’s a big f-ing deal. I’ve looked, and they just don’t DO things like that. And yet, there I am!

In other news, I might be getting some work-for-hire writing work for one of the Big Two, but it’s far too early to tell. I’m also developing a Science Fiction series for Dave Dwonch at Action Lab as writer/creator, but won’t be drawing it. I’m not a sci-fi artist, and I want it to be good.

I got to meet Jamal Igle in person, finally, and met Ken Meyer Jr (a huge favorite of mine), Erik Larsen (a VERY nice guy!), and Robert Kirkman (!), as well. I caught up with Tony Puryear and his lovely wife, who are great people, and other Top Cow guys, like Rahsan Ekedal and Stjepen Sejic. The Top Cow staff, Betsy, Elena, Nino, Scott, and the rest, were all amazing, and Bryan about saved my life on Saturday night. Or at least my chair.

Lots of fun, lots of connections made, and the book is now official. November! Buy it!
