Updates and News

So I got my new computer and I’m up and running again, this time much faster and more reliably thanks to said computer. I still can’t believe how fast it is!

Tonight I finished the outline for Ripper, the third episode of Hellwatch, and if all goes to plan it’ll be the longest of the three so far. I’m estimating that it’ll be close to 33,000 words, about 6000 more than episodes one and two. While those previous episodes establish the characters and the overarching story, this one is straight-out action and suspense. It’s something of a ‘monster of the week’ episode that doesn’t deal very much with that overarching metaplot, but it does have a few connections mostly told through what Mephistopheles is up to while Ester and Sammy chase a killer when they’re supposed to be on vacation.

I’m hoping that you’ll all enjoy it, and you can look for it next month!

Other than that, I’m going to be getting into recording Mephistopheles in the coming weeks and putting up the podcast version over at Podiobooks. The audio book version will go up for sale at about the same time, and those of you receiving it as a reward for your Kickstarter pledges will get an e-mail link to download it before it does.

That’s about it for now. Let me know what you all think of episode two!

“Hellwatch: Mephistopeles” Early Release!

So after initially bumping back the release date to February 22nd, I’m putting out Episode Two a bit early in e-book form – the audio book still won’t be out for a little while. For the moment, it’s exclusively at Back My Book, where I get the biggest percentage of royalty of all of the various online bookstores. Later in the month, closer to the original release date of the 22nd, I’ll have it up at Amazon and Smashwords. I still don’t have a hard release date for the audio book yet, but when I do I’ll let everyone know.

I’m hard at work on Episode Three, which comes out in March! Stay tuned!

I’m also an artist (I draw with my mouth), so please take a moment to look around and maybe consider commissioning some art. Portraits and caricatures make great presents.

I appreciate your visit, and hope you enjoy my creations!

Kickstarter Success, Release Date Changes, Random Updates

First of all, the Kickstarter fundraiser was a success! I was able to get funding to guarantee that episodes two and three come out in both e-book and audio book form. My computer is literally on its last legs and can die at any moment, and the audio quality was never very good in the first place. All of that will change thanks to the generous support of those who pledged over at Kickstarter.

I’ll be getting a new computer, allowing me to keep working on the story and put together the covers and art that go along with it. I’ll also be getting a digital recorder that will allow me to both podcast each episode in parts as well as put out a high quality audio book for each episode. There will be a vast improvement in quality where recording is concerned.

Because the funding is only becoming available to me this week, I’m postponing the official release of episode two and moving it to February 22nd. This will allow me time to get the new computer and recording equipment, put together the best, professional versions of the e-book and audio book that I possibly can and roll it all out at the same time. This way, everything will come out at the same time – the e-book and audio book will both be available for purchase, and the podcasts will begin with the first of five parts going up on Podiobooks at hopefully the same time. Regardless, it’ll be available here for streaming that day.

This means that everything will be pushed back one month, with episode two coming out in February and episode nine coming out in September. I’m already working on episode three and will have it done well before its March release date.

So the year has gotten off to a good start and things are moving along nicely. I look forward to bringing you more stories of Ester and Sammy, and maybe even some new stories in other areas that I can’t talk about just yet.

Here’s to a strong 2012!

Ester Given Form

I’ve just finished a drawing of Ester I’m finally happy with. This is pretty close to how I originally saw her. I’m curious how those of you who have read the book feel about this rendering of her?

Next, I’ll draw Sammy.

Holiday Art Sale!

As most of you know, I’m a disabled artist (I draw with my mouth) and use the income from my art to supplement what little Social Security I get to support myself and my disabled wife.

With the holidays coming, this is the one time of year that I actually get a decent number of commissions to help pay outstanding bills, catch up on rent and set a little aside for presents of our own.

I understand many of you aren’t much better off than I am, so even if you aren’t in a position to consider commissioning art for yourself or your family, I humbly ask that you share this site with your friends so that as many people as possible might see it and hopefully I get a few commissions. I thank you very much, and really appreciate all of your friendship and support!
